A Fun Day In Yellowstone

On Saturday we took the kids up to Yellowstone National Park. It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect. Delwyn wanted to go to Old Faithful first and then work our way back to the the West Entrance.
He must have been inspired to go to Old Faithful first because we had only been there about 5-10 minutes before it started going off, usually we have to wait for a long time.  Matt had a great time taking pictures of it.

We then walked around the store to find some batteries because mine were dead in the camera. The kids had fun trying to get us to buy them things. We managed to get out of there with only one cup that cost $0.99.
We then headed to the Black Sand Basin and saw a couple geysers we hadn't seen erupting before. We then head up to Biscuit Basin and did something we had never done and that was go on a hike to Mystic Falls. It was a pretty hike through the woods. The kids only complained a little bit about being tired and hungry. When we made it to the fall I think they were all glad we went, I know I was.

The next thing we did was feed those hungry kids and stopped to have a picnic lunch that I had packed.
After lunch we went to Midway Geyser Basin and had to wait for a long time in a line to get into the parking lot. It was crazy. I'm not sure what the hold-up was because we had no problem finding a parking place. The kids had a great time counting all that hats that were out in the thermal areas as we walked around. By the time we made it all the way around they had counted 21 lost hats. I'm just glad Delwyn's hat stayed on his head and didn't add to the mix, with the wind gusts we occasionally had.

We finished our day with a trip to the Playmill Theater to see "Mary Poppins". The kid all liked it, Aleeya spent more time going in and out to the bathroom then anything else. She would sit still when they were singing songs that she knew, but other than that she was very interested.

It was a long but fun day for the whole family.
Beautiful Sunset to end the day.

Teton Dam Marathon Relay and Kids Fun Run

Today I had the opportunity to run the 4th leg of the Teton Dam Relay. It was so much fun. I only knew one of the ladies running Melanie, but we all had fun. The Team Members were Melanie Busby, Jessica Polcock, Katie Jeppson, Me, Michelle Bell, and Amy Zimmer. The 2nd and 6th legs were 5 miles and the others were 4. We all did well. I had hoped to finish before noon so I could watch the kids do the Fun Run and we finished about 11:16 Am. I was so happy. Our time was 4:46:17. I hope to get to do it again.

Sole Sister Team: Amy, Jessica, Me, & Melanie

At Noon they had the kids run. The one under 7 ran first. Aleeya wanted me to run with her but about 1/2 way through the first lap she left me in the dust and finished on her own. I was ok with this because my legs were tired. Matt ran in this group also. He took off at the first and never looked back.

Next up were the kids from age 8-12. Jessica and Kylynn were with each other most of the time. Ky came in just in front of Jessie and her friends. They all did great. Jessica decided that she would like to run the 5K next year.

Temple to Temple Relay

On Saturday I got to participate in my first relay. We ran from the Rexburg temple to the Idaho Falls temple.
I was really nervous because I didn't want to let the team down with a terrible time on my leg. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
The relay was made up of 8 legs of various lengths from 2.6-7 miles. I ran the first leg of 2.74 miles. I finished in 31 minutes, I was pretty happy. My parents meet me at the end of my leg to cheer my on, they are so supportive.
My favorite part was getting to cheer on the other runners as they ran there leg. We all did great and finished the 39 miles in about 6 hours 49 minutes. We all ran the last little bit together. The weather was beautiful but I was sure glad my leg was in the morning before it turned hot.
The run so farians.
