Zombie Chase

A week  ago my nephew Haden called me on the phone and asked "Are you running the Zombie race?" I told him I didn't think so. He was all sad and said "well, I thought I could run it if you ran." I just could tell him "No". I got myself signed up and worried how I was going to handle running when I haven't ran in about 2 months. I had every intention of starting to run to get ready but it never happened. I wasn't thrilled about being cased by Zombies either.
The morning of the chase my stomach was all upset from being so nervous. I had nothing to be worried about it was just so fun. Haden and I worked well as a team. I wore the Survivor shift and he wore the flags and ran away from the Zombies. Throughout the run we had multiple hurdles to make it over, around or through. Some were harder than others and some I just refused to do and went around them.
Haden did great, and made it to the finish line with all 3 of his flags still on. The Zombies were nice and didn't chase after the young one very much. One of the Zombie's did get a hold of one flag but didn't get it off.
We alternated between running and walking and I think Haden was worn out by the end, but I was proud of him because not once did he want to quit. He did amazing for his first run and we finished in about 52:35. It really was fun, and I'm glad that I did it.
Haden and I after check in.

The mob waiting to go over the first obstacle

Haden climbing the 1st obstacle, at the top you had to slide down a strait wall, it was crazy.

Haden went under, I refused and climbed over the wires.

Run Haden, run away from those Zombie's

This obstacle was crazy, I had a hard time climbing it and ended up cutting my had a little

This obstacle was pretty fun, not to often do I get to climb on cars, my Husband would kill me.

How I didn't want to go through this box, it had cooked spaghetti all over and it was gross.

Haden finishing the race strong, You are amazing

My kids met us at the finish line along with Grandma Erikson and Haden's siblings.

Bulldog Jog

This year as a fund raiser at the Burton School, they decided to have a Fun Run and 5 K. My kids have all wanted to do a 5 K and asked me each time a sign up for one. So when this activity came up I decided that we would all run the 5 K together. I had hoped that Delwyn would get off in time to come but he wasn't able to.
Getting ready to run

The day of the run it has rained off and on and even some lightning. I wasn't sure how the weather would be come race time. As it turned out it was just right weather for running, not to hot and not to cold. That was until about 1/2 way into the race and then it started to pour on us. They had people driving around and offering to pick us up but I wanted to finish this race just like I have every other race.
The kids did amazing, I was so proud of them. Jessica, Kylynn and Matt all ran together with some friends. They reported that they had to walk some, but they didn't quit. Matt got scared when the rain and thunder started so stopped and turned around to try and find me and Aleeya so he could get in the cart. When I found him he was being given piggy back rides by Mrs. Larue and Candice Rail. They were so sweet to him. Aleeya didn't want to ride in the cart the hole time so when we got to the road going into the High School she got out and ran. I was really impressed that she ran most of the way around the High School complex and back out to 12th west. She would have ran more if it wasn't for the rain. Matt and Aleeya both ran at the end and to the finish line.
Aleeya thought it was fun to run through the sprinklers

Aleeya running, she was amazing for a 4 year old
We all had a great time and hope this will be one of those lasting memories. In our family Kylynn was the first one to finish followed by Jessica, Matt, Aleeya and then myself. They did a raffle and our family got 2 jackets, 2 Papa Murphy pizza's, and 2 tickets to Fat Cats. What a wonderful night.
My 4 winners, they did much better than I thought they would.

Home at last, Wet and Tired but Happy.

God is watching over us!

Today I was awaken with a phone call at 4:51 AM from Delwyn's phone. I could hear him talking and saying that he was alright but the horse didn't make it. I was really scared. He then started talking to me and told me that he had hit a Horse and that we no longer had a pick-up. From what he said he was driving to work in the dark and came upon some horses in the road. He swirved to miss them but one turned back and he hit it broadside. The Horse flew up onto the window and hood of the pick-up, but thankfully not through the window. I was so greatful to arrive and finding him truly alright. I did inform him I never wanted to get a phone call like that again.
I brought him home and then he drove the Tahoe to work. He reported as the day went on that his left shoulder was sore from the seatbelt.

Here are somethings I am very greatful for today:
1. That Delwyn is still with me today.
2. That he chose to drive the pick-up to work today and wear his seatbelt.
3. That the part necessary to fix our little yellow car was not the right part so the car had to stay in the shop and extra couple of days, or he would have been driving it and most likely hurt badly if not killed.
4. That my mother puts our names in the Temple every week .

I am really sad that we know longer have Delwyn's pick-up, he truly loved it and always joked that he when he died he wanted to be buried in it. But I will definetly choose having Delwyn with me over his pick-up.

Picture first thing this morning.

Fun times on the 4th of July

It was a wonderful 4th and I'm so glad that I live here in the United States where we are truly blessed.
This year we did some firsts as a family which  made it more special. This year both Jessica and Kylynn were able to participate in the Rexburg Parade. Jessica was with the Marching Band Color Guard. She had look forward to doing it since the winter when she first learned the flags. She spent 3 days a week the month of June til the parade practicing and learning the routine. She had so much fun and did a wonderful job.

Jessie doing routine to Madison's Fight song
Kylynn was able to ride on the Heritage 4-H club float. The first day she went to 4-H she learned that they did a float and she wanted to particiate and asked each week when they were going to decorate it. Both of the girls spent an hour or so on the 3rd working on the float. Kylynn held a sign that said "Sheep" while riding on the float. She had a great time and wants to do it again.

Jessie and Ky helping to build the float

Ky on the 4H float
After the parade we went to my parents for the annual 4 BBQ. It is so fun to get together and eat good food. The kids enjoy getting to play with their cousins.

Aleeya bugging Collin at Grandma's house
After we eat for several year my family then goes and floats the river between Chester Dam and the Fun Bridge in St. Anthony. Jessica was able to go a couple of years ago. but no one else has ever gone. I have always used the excuse that I hate the water and I'm to scared something would happen to the kids. Well this year I decided that we would go. I went and bought us 2 new tubes to use. Delwyn wasn't able to go because of needing to get something done around the yard while he was off work. Matt was really excited to go and ride in the camo colored raft. Then he sat down in the raft and got his bottom wet and it was cold and he suddenly turned terrified. Vicki and Trav saved the day by offering him to ride in their raft. He was so much more relaxed and enjoyed his ride down the river. I was still sacred and didn't want to be left by myself with my kids in case something happened, so Robin agreed to stay with us and guide us down the river. I have to admit it was a little fun, but I sure wish I could have totally relaxed and just enjoyed the restfulness of the river. Aleeya even had fun riding between my lap in the tube or taking a ride with Adri in the kayak. The kids all had a good time and said they would like to do it again next year, maybe we can get Delwyn to go with us.

Getting ready

Collin had to pull us to the side so we could get out of the river
The last thing we  did was set off firework in our yard. The kids really enjoyed watching the neighbors shoot off their firework up in the air, they were beautiful. The kids were all glad when we ran out of fireworks and they could go to bed. It had been a really fun but long day and they were tired.

A Day in Yellowstone

On Saturday we decided to go up to Yellowstone. It was going to rain but I thought it would clear up by the afternoon so we went anyway. It has been a while since we had been around the northern route, so that's where we went.
We had hoped to see something besides bison. We were not disappointed, we got to see 2 bears. The first was just of the side of the road and created a nice back up of traffic. It stayed there eating for a long time with people taking pictures.
The second bear was along a side road between Mammoth and Norris. It didn't stay in view long enough to get a picture but it was really neat to see.

Bear, it sure want scared of all the people taking its picture.

We also saw about 10 elk, and 30 bison.
The only place we got our and walked around was the upper terraces at Mammoth. It was a long walk and we ended up having to climb a bunch of stairs at the end which did everyone in. Aleeya wanted to be carried but no way was I going to carry her up all those stairs so I bribed her by promising her a piece of gum when we got back top the car. It's amazing what that girl will do for gum.
When we left the park we stopped in West Yellowstone to let the kids walk around and look in some stores. We bought the 3 youngest a t shirt and Jessie got sweats.
It was a great day even with the rain.

Flag Day 2014

It was a busy June 14th for the Klingler Family. We had 2 different activities going on at the sametime 30 miles apart. Jessica had to be in Idaho Falls at the Fish and Game office to finish up her Hunters Safty by 8:00 AM. Wendy had to be up to Millhollow road for the start of the Teton Dam 5K by 8:30 AM. We divided the kids up and went are separate ways.
Teton Dam 5K
When I signed up to run the 5K I had no idea where it was going to be ran. I finally was able to see the map about 2 weeks before the race and found out that I would have to run up Millhollow Road. I was not excited at all because it is up hill. I do alright running on flat roads, hills not so good. I decided that I would have to practice running the hill. So 3-4 days my Mom took me up to the starting point and then drove my car to the finish, before she started her walks. It was a killer each time and I hated it but I was able to make it up the hill even if I was slow. I felt alright about it as the run came near. The morning of the run it was cloudy, cold, and even a few sprinkles, I wasn't so sure any more.
Mom took me to the start and then drove around to different locations to  cheer me on. She took Ky and Aleeya with her and had them cheer me on. It was fun having them there and helped me out a lot. I did better then I had thought I would. I finished in 38:46, was 53rd of 120 overall, 30th of 79 for female, and 2nd of 9 in my age group. I was pretty proud of myself.
The start

It was all down hill for here

The finish line, 38:46 minutes later

I didn't know that I would get a medel just for finishing, it was great.

 Hunters Field Day:
Delwyn learned that you can now get a hunting license when you are 10 years old, he was all excited to have Jessica get hers so she could go hunting with him. She said that she wanted to do it, so we got her signed up for an online class. She had fun the first couple of days but then she didn't want  to do it anymore. We talked to her  about how important it is to  finish what you start. She finally finished and then had to wait until June 14th for the field day and final exam. We tried to study with her but she just put up fights. We we all  worried that we had spent all this money and she wouldn't pass.
Delwyn took her down and dropped her off. She become excited when her friend Jayden Michille was in her class.  She did well. She got a 90% on the final and even hit the target while shooting. We were all very proud of her and glad that she did so well.
Our newest Hunter Jessica, love the orange hat.

Since Jessica's field day went until Noon, I took Ky and Aleeya over to the Air Show with Grandpa and Grandma Erikson. I have never been and thought it would be fun. The kids seemed to enjoy it also. Aleeya's favorite was seeing John Bagley's play "Old Yeller", because it is bright yellow, her favorite color. Ky loved watching the "Jelly Belly" plane because  it had colored smoke and it was cool looking. It tried to land on a small runway on the back of a pick-up, it took 3 tries but he finally did it, was impressive.
We stayed for just a couple of hours but it was fun. I was amazed at the skill these pilets have. I would love to take the whole family next year.

3 Little Piggy Opera

All the first grade classes put on a play each year. This year Mrs McCoy's class did a play intitled the "3 Little Piggy Opera". They all wrote to Mrs McCoy to tell her which part they wanted. Matt wanted to be the wolf along with 3 other boys. She divided the part into 4 so each could do what they had wanted. Matt was wolf # 4 and only had to do some acting and not talk. I thought that was a great part for him. Then a couple of weeks before the play his teacher sent home a speaking part. Matts friend was moving away so Matt wanted to do his part also. I worked with him to get it memorized. He did a great job. Grandpa Erikson couldn't go to the play so Grandma recorded Matts parts and he was impressed that Matt would actually talk in front of all those people. Matt was an awesome wolf as he ran around the gym howling with his tail on fire. The kids all did a wonderful job.

One crazy week in May

Well this week had been very busy with 2 birthdays, 4 softball games, 1play, 1field trip, and 2 family birthday parties.
Tuesday we had 2 games. Each girl had a game at 6:00. So we tried to watch both fields and tried to see each at bat. I was doing well until they were both up at the same time. I ended up missing  a great hit by Jessica, I was really sad.
Wednesday was Kylynn birthday.  She was so exited and could hardly wait for her dad to wake up and Jessie to get home from school so she could open her out presents. She got a Kindle. But when she opened the box she didn't know what it was. She was really surprised.

It's a what Mom? A Kindle
We then went out to dinner at Applebees. It was kids night so the kids got a face painting and a animal balloon. They thought it was great. I thought the $0.99 kids meal was great.
3 animal and a sword balloon, Aleeya popped right after this picture was taken.

Jessie wanted something simple

Aleeya was the first to want her face painted , she got Hello Kitty

Ky with Minnie Mouse

Thursday was Jessica's play at school. I had to go in the morning so I could take Ky to her ballgame at the same time as Jessie's  play that night. They play was titled "The girls step up to the plate". It was about world war 2. It was a very cute play and they did a great job. At the end they sang "40 hour week" and did a tribute to the American workers. They had a slide show to go with it and had a picture of my Dad as the Idaho farmer. It brought tears to my eyes. Delwyn and Matthew went to the play that night along with the grandparents.

Jessica at her play, she is so cute.
I took Ky to get game and it was great fun. She played her friend Cambria. I love watching this age group because they don't keep score and they all just have fun. We all got home just in time to go to bed.

Friday was Jessica's birthday. She was excited to have her field trip on her birthday. They needed help at the museum so I decided to go with them. It was entertaining walking around the exhibit and helping them find the answers to questions. The exhibit was entitled "Race to the end of the Earth". I had a fun time. They then went swimming at the aquatic center. She said it was fun. When she got home from school she got to open her gifts. She was glad to get an i-pod case and a new bike.  We then went to to dinner at "Wingers". It was alright food but not my favorite. We then took them to Dairy queen for a blizzard.

Jessie and her new bike
Jessica then had a ballgame at 8:30, but it didn't get started until almost 9. She played her cousin Bryns team. It was a really long game. The played an hour but only 2 innings. The other team only had 5 players, so it took awhile to get 3 outs each inning. The highlight of the game was seeing Jessica so happy when they let her pitch. She did alright. She even struck out 1 batter on 3 pitches, and she never hit anyone. We finally got home at 10:20. It was a really long day.
Saturday morning I had to go to work till 3:00. It was a good shift. I had some really cute patients to take care of.
Once I got off I went and picked up dinner from "Papa John's" then came home. Delwyn had already picked up the kids and had them cleaning up the house for the birthday party with the Klingler family. As soon as I got home I started to decorate the cakes.  They turned out really well, I thought. We then had the party at 7. The kids had fun visiting with all the family and enjoyed getting new gifts.

Jessica's Klingler family cake.
Sunday was stake conference but since Aleeya woke up sick and I still had a cold we didn't go. I decorated the other cakes for Lunch with the Erikson family at 1. Delwyn was sleeping so he didn't go with us. The kids had fun after lunch playing kickball in the back yard. It was fun visiting with my family since I have missed the last 2 family dinner because of work.

We then came home at 4 to finish the laundry and just relax. I was really glad to have the week over and no more birthday celebrations til July.
