Teton Dam Marathon Relay and Kids Fun Run

Today I had the opportunity to run the 4th leg of the Teton Dam Relay. It was so much fun. I only knew one of the ladies running Melanie, but we all had fun. The Team Members were Melanie Busby, Jessica Polcock, Katie Jeppson, Me, Michelle Bell, and Amy Zimmer. The 2nd and 6th legs were 5 miles and the others were 4. We all did well. I had hoped to finish before noon so I could watch the kids do the Fun Run and we finished about 11:16 Am. I was so happy. Our time was 4:46:17. I hope to get to do it again.

At Noon they had the kids run. The one under 7 ran first. Aleeya wanted me to run with her but about 1/2 way through the first lap she left me in the dust and finished on her own. I was ok with this because my legs were tired. Matt ran in this group also. He took off at the first and never looked back.

 Next up were the kids from age 8-12. Jessica and Kylynn were with each other most of the time. Ky came in just in front of Jessie and her friends. They all did great. Jessica decided that she would like to run the 5K next year.

It was a great day. I think were all did great but were all a little tired by the time we got home. Thanks for finishing and not quitting. You kids are amazing.

Temple to Temple Relay

On Saturday I got to participate in my first relay. We ran from the Rexburg temple to the Idaho Falls temple.
I was really nervous because I didn't want to let the team down with a terrible time on my leg. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
The relay was made up of 8 legs of various lengths from 2.6-7 miles. I ran the first leg of 2.74 miles. I finished in 31 minutes, I was pretty happy. My parents meet me at the end of my leg to cheer my on, they are so supportive.
My favorite part was getting to cheer on the other runners as they ran there leg. We all did great and finished the 39 miles in about 6 hours 49 minutes. We all ran the last little bit together. The weather was beautiful but I was sure glad my leg was in the morning before it turned hot.

Preschool Graduation

Today was Aleeya's Preschool graduation. She was all excited about it, she was asking frequently if it was time to go.
They did a wonderful program with songs  they had learned. Shared that they knew all the letter names and sounds. They also shared the shape names and how to count to 100 by 10. They did a wonderful job.
Aleeya learned so much this year and was in tears as we left because she wouldn't see Mrs Stewart or her friends anymore. I am so glad that we decided to put her in Running Start Preschool. Thanks for all your hard work Mrs. Stewart.

Wax Museum

The 4th grade classes at Burton Elementary each year put on a Wax Museum about what they learned about Idaho History. The classes spend the week of the museum painting the backdrops. Ky forgot the first day and wore her brand new clothes and got green paint on them. I think this is the kids favorite part.
We have to come up with our own costumes for which ever theme the child is in. Ky was in Native American and therefore needed and indian costume. Luck for us we had the costume from Jessica. I took it and added some beads to it . It turned out really cute, and it was only a little bit itchy. (Ky thinks everything is itchy)

Goodbye to a Friend

May 14
When we got home from Jessie`s softball games last night, we found out sweet cat Daisy laying in the road dead. The kids were all very sad and cried and cried. Delwyn went out and helped get him of the road and buried him in the back yard. Ky was the most sad because she claimed him as her cat and it was her birthday. Not a very good way to end a fun birthday.
Some of our favorite memories of Daisy:
°Aleeya remembers him running into the house and hiding under her bed and not being able to get him to come out. He also liked to run downstairs and hide behind the couch. Aleeya loved to carry and pet him, he had some very soft fur.

°Just a couple of weeks ago I decided to take the kids on a walk. Daisy started to follow us, I thought he would go back as soon as we past the neighbors house but he followed us the entire walk. When we started back home he was to tired to come. Ky went and picked him up to carry him but that didn't last long and he jumped out of her arms. He then hid in some branches. I couldn't get him out and they were all mad because they were sure the cat would never come home. As we walked I kept calling his name and he comes out and followed us all the way back home. When the house was in sight Daisy took off running and stayed in the shade on the deck for the rest of the night. I knew that dogs liked to go for walks but not cats, but I guess I was wrong.
°Last fall Daisy had a sore leg and had to be taken to the Vet. Aleeya kept crying and asking us not to give her a shot. We told her that they would take really good care of her. She was so cute carrying Daisy into the Vet. When we went to pick her up we found out that it was a boy. We had called him Daisy for so long that the name just stayed. I don't thing the cat cared.
°I loved to watch Daisy and Butterscotch play out on the deck. Aleeya would yell at Daisy because she thought he was hurting Butterscotch. I never could convince her that they were just playing, I will miss that.
° Jessica favorite memory was when we first got the cat. It was the day before Aleeya`s birthday, and a neighbor found out in the field and they couldn't keep it so have it to us. They came home and begged us to keep it.
° Kylynn loved to snuggle with him. He only liked it for a short time then wanted down. He would sit out front and watch the kids as they waited for the bus.
Daisy was a good mouser and will be missed.

A little accident

April 22.
I had just got home with Kylynn from her soccer practice. Her and Jessie decided to go outside and play on the trampoline. They were getting along really well and have a fun time doing all kinds of tricks.
A little after 8 pm I was watching TV and suddenly I heard Ky crying and saying Mom help me. When I heard her my first thought was we have a broken bone. But when I saw her she had blood all over her face and dripping all over. I rushed her into the bathroom and got her all cleaned up, and found she had an inch long gash on her forehead. She kept crying that she didn't want stitches. I had to explain that there was nothing else we could do but get stitches.
When we finally got the girls called down we found out that Jessica was doing a front hand spring, Ky bent down to pick up her hair elastic, had the thought she needed to move because something was going to happen but she didn't move. Somehow Jessica's knee found Kylynn forehead and cut it open.
I took her into community care where we had to wait for a long time. They had tried to numb it with a lidocaine gel but it didn't work. She cried and cried when they have her the shot. She was very brave and laid still. In the end she got 2 stitches under the skin and 6 on top. I told the doctor that I would take the stitches out myself in 3-5 says but Kylynn informed me she didn't want me to take them out because she doesn't trust me. That made me feel really good.
She  thought she looked so funny with her eye swollen, blood in her eye and the stitches she wouldn't go to school on Thursday. She was afraid the other kids would laugh at her. I decided to let her stay home and we went to grandma Erikson house and she sewed her skirt.

Jessica had felt so guilty for causing the accident. Ky wanted to buy her a treat to let her know it was all right and she forgave her.

I hope Ky learned that when she has a prompting that she needs to do something she will heed it.

Futsal 2015

Matt loves to play soccer, so when he brought home information about the Futsal season he asked to play. I agreed to let him and signed him up. The season was 9 weeks from the end of January to the end of March. He could hardly wait for it to start.
When he met his team for the first time he wasn't all that excited because he didn't know anyone, but soon made some friends. His team was made up of 5 boys and 3 girls.
It wasn't the most successful season with only 1 win, 6 losses and 1 tie, but it was exciting to see the progress the team made over the coarse of the season. The score of 3 of the loses was 3-2. It was disappointing that they didn't win more but each game they played hard.
Matt loved to play goalie and did a great job of stopping the shots when he would pay attention, sometimes he would get bored and hang on the net or get distracted where they would score. He played forward the best if you ask me because he didn't get bored and he wasn't afraid to get in there and kick the ball hard away from the other team. Matt ended the season with 8 of the teams 25 goals.
