A little accident

April 22.
I had just got home with Kylynn from her soccer practice. Her and Jessie decided to go outside and play on the trampoline. They were getting along really well and have a fun time doing all kinds of tricks.
A little after 8 pm I was watching TV and suddenly I heard Ky crying and saying Mom help me. When I heard her my first thought was we have a broken bone. But when I saw her she had blood all over her face and dripping all over. I rushed her into the bathroom and got her all cleaned up, and found she had an inch long gash on her forehead. She kept crying that she didn't want stitches. I had to explain that there was nothing else we could do but get stitches.
When we finally got the girls called down we found out that Jessica was doing a front hand spring, Ky bent down to pick up her hair elastic, had the thought she needed to move because something was going to happen but she didn't move. Somehow Jessica's knee found Kylynn forehead and cut it open.
I took her into community care where we had to wait for a long time. They had tried to numb it with a lidocaine gel but it didn't work. She cried and cried when they have her the shot. She was very brave and laid still. In the end she got 2 stitches under the skin and 6 on top. I told the doctor that I would take the stitches out myself in 3-5 says but Kylynn informed me she didn't want me to take them out because she doesn't trust me. That made me feel really good.
She  thought she looked so funny with her eye swollen, blood in her eye and the stitches she wouldn't go to school on Thursday. She was afraid the other kids would laugh at her. I decided to let her stay home and we went to grandma Erikson house and she sewed her skirt.

Jessica had felt so guilty for causing the accident. Ky wanted to buy her a treat to let her know it was all right and she forgave her.

I hope Ky learned that when she has a prompting that she needs to do something she will heed it.

Futsal 2015

Matt loves to play soccer, so when he brought home information about the Futsal season he asked to play. I agreed to let him and signed him up. The season was 9 weeks from the end of January to the end of March. He could hardly wait for it to start.
When he met his team for the first time he wasn't all that excited because he didn't know anyone, but soon made some friends. His team was made up of 5 boys and 3 girls.
It wasn't the most successful season with only 1 win, 6 losses and 1 tie, but it was exciting to see the progress the team made over the coarse of the season. The score of 3 of the loses was 3-2. It was disappointing that they didn't win more but each game they played hard.
Matt loved to play goalie and did a great job of stopping the shots when he would pay attention, sometimes he would get bored and hang on the net or get distracted where they would score. He played forward the best if you ask me because he didn't get bored and he wasn't afraid to get in there and kick the ball hard away from the other team. Matt ended the season with 8 of the teams 25 goals.

Dazzling Diamonds

Kylynn brought home a paper from school advertising the Dazzling Diamonds, she asked if she could do it. At first I told her no because it caused to much. She began to cry and talk about how I never let her do anything she wants. I thought about it and asked myself why I wasn't letting her do this when I was willing to spend about the same amount of money on the other kids to play sports. In the end I decided that I needed to let her do this to help her with her confidence  and self esteem if nothing else.
You may wonder what the Dazzling Diamond are, well it is a non-competitve program done in conjunction with the Miss Rexburg pageant. Kylynn got to attend several different workshops on Poise, self-confidence, and dance routines. He favorite workshop was the Glam session, where she got to have her hair and make-up done at Paul Mitchell and then have a photo shoot.
Kylynn worked really hard and looked forward to each activity, It was never a problem getting her to go, because it was something she truly enjoyed.
As the final event she was able to participate in the Miss Rexburg Pageant on March 21st. In total there were 13 Dazzling Diamonds. They performed a group dance number at the program. They also got so show off what they learned in there poise workshop and walk on stage modeling their own Evening Gowns and have a spot light read about them written by their parents.  The final time they were on stage was to escort on of the Miss Rexburg contestants on the stage for the Evening Gown competition.
Kylynn did wonderful and she looked so beautiful, thanks to Grandma Erikson, Aunt Cristy and Justine doing her hair and make-up.
When it was all over I found out that she got so much more out of doing this program then the $75 I payed for her to participate. I am so glad that she was able to do this.

Winter Guard

Jessica loves to do guard (Flags). She was excited when Mr. Barton said that he was going to do winter guard after school. She was probably the first to sign up. They had practice each Monday after school for the months of January and February. She never complained on these day about getting home so much later because it was something she really loves doing.
Unlike last year, this year Mr Barton planned to have them perform the drill at one of the High School guard competitions.
They were performing to the song "Hard knock Life" from Annie. They were using brooms and mop along with the flag. It was a fun performance and Jessica did wonderful. As we were leaving the school Jessica turned to me and said" Next year I can do the solo competition." I'm so glad that she has found something she truly enjoys and I hope she does continue developing her skills.
I had wanted to record the performance but Delwyn was so tired from being up all night and day that he didn't realize it wasn't recording until the last 45 sec, then he started to record. But at least I took lots of pictures for her to remember it.

Valentine's Day Surprise!

On Valentine's day the kids decided to surprise Delwyn and I with breakfast in bed. They asked if they could get up early to do something nice for us. They had planned it out the night before with what job each was in charge of. Jessica was making pancakes, Ky  would fry the eggs, and Matt was going to warm the bacon, Aleeya had the hardest job, keeping Mom and Dad in their room.
I could hear them making noise in the kitchen and did go out to make sure they weren't burning the house down but then went back to bed. It was so nice to hear them all working together to accomplish something without any fighting going on. That was the best gift they could have given us.

Restored 1989 Chevy Silverado

Well it took awhile to get Delwyn's Chevy back but it was so worth the wait, It turned out so amazing. It doesn't look like a 26 year old pick-up, it really looks like it  could have came off a show room floor. We didn't but new chrome on the bed or around the wheels so they have some dings but other than that it looks amazing.
The other day we took it down to drop off the scrap metal and they workers were asking Delwyn what year his truck was because it was so shiny. I think Delwyn was happy to show it off.
We could never thank CJ Hampton enough for all the hard work he did and the amazing deal he gave us. It should have cost us a lot more than it did but he only changed us for about 7 hours of labor rather than the 40+ hours he worked on it.

The hardest thing to find was the Chevy bowtie for the front CJ ordered about 5 before he found one to fit.

Zombie Chase

A week  ago my nephew Haden called me on the phone and asked "Are you running the Zombie race?" I told him I didn't think so. He was all sad and said "well, I thought I could run it if you ran." I just could tell him "No". I got myself signed up and worried how I was going to handle running when I haven't ran in about 2 months. I had every intention of starting to run to get ready but it never happened. I wasn't thrilled about being cased by Zombies either.
The morning of the chase my stomach was all upset from being so nervous. I had nothing to be worried about it was just so fun. Haden and I worked well as a team. I wore the Survivor shift and he wore the flags and ran away from the Zombies. Throughout the run we had multiple hurdles to make it over, around or through. Some were harder than others and some I just refused to do and went around them.
Haden did great, and made it to the finish line with all 3 of his flags still on. The Zombies were nice and didn't chase after the young one very much. One of the Zombie's did get a hold of one flag but didn't get it off.
We alternated between running and walking and I think Haden was worn out by the end, but I was proud of him because not once did he want to quit. He did amazing for his first run and we finished in about 52:35. It really was fun, and I'm glad that I did it.
